Matt P's 2006 VW GTI with the first set of VW Mark V AST4100 struts. Matt's VW will get the first Vorshlag camber plates soon as well. He daily drives, autocrosses and open tracks this car. The car is built to SCCA "STX" class rules as well as NASA TT-E.

vorshlag > Fair at Vorshlag raising the car in preparation for the AST 4100 suspension kit installation. As a Vorshlag Tester in the Dallas area, Matt received a free installation and corner weighing.
vorshlag > Installation of the front struts.
vorshlag > After the corner weights were optimized (both "cross" weights equaled 50.0% after adjusting ride heights on each corner) the adjustable perches were locked down at their final locations. Getting your car "corner weight balanced" is a key step for cars that are tracked or autocrossed, as it helps the car turn left and right equally. For street cars it is not as critical.
vorshlag > Rear coilover spring in the stock location uses a ride height adjuster, provided in the AST kit.
vorshlag > Note the concentric rear Rebound adjuster on the inverted rear shock - easy to reach in and adjust, with no tools needed. The upper rear shock mount is "blind" on the back of these cars - some other VW kits with adjustable shocks cannot be adjusted on the car because the knob is in this inaccessible area.
