Rear subframe and differential swap, BMW E46

Some pictures we took during a rear differential housing swap. We also removed the 4 stock subframe bushings and replaced them with polyurethane Powerflec bushings, and replaced the rear diff mount with a new stock bushing.

  • New Powerflex polyurethane subframe bushings.

  • New RTAB bushings (E46 M3) and Vorshlag RTAB Limiters.
  • The 4 subframe mounts were supplied by Powerflex, and the rear diff mount is a heavy duty rubber OEM unit.
  • New rear axle + differential installed into subframe
  • All 7 of the old bushings that were removed. The 4 big ones are the sub-frame bushings, the two at far left are the RTAB bushings, and the mangled one at the far right is the rear diff mount. The front two diff mounts were not swapped, as Powerflex does not make any of the diff mounts in polyurethane.
  • The clamping system we used for the bushing swap
  • All done - just needs fluid and a driveshaft.
